Here, you can find the key components that investors want to listen to:

Market Definition: How large is your market? Is it growing?

It’s easy for startup founders to believe the whole world will love their products. After all, founders eat, sleep and breathe their products. The reality is that only a small portion of the population is interested in your product. If you try to market your startup to everyone, you waste both time and money. The key is to identify a niche target market and go after market share aggressively. Your investor want to know how many potential customers would be interested in your product, so: Are you targeting a regional demographic? Male-Female? Children? Professionals? BTC BTB?

Search data in the web, use social networks (linkedin can give you precious industry insights for example)

Know exactly how many potential customers are in your target market.

Target definition: Who’s Your Potential (or Effective) Customer

As you define the problem you are solving, you should naturally be thinking about the potential customers who have this problem. In the Target Market section of your pitch, you will define exactly who has the problem you are solving and figure out how many potential customers you will be trying to sell to.

Competitive analysis

One of the hardest things for a startupper is to get realistic view of the competition. Investors grimace when they hear “there is no competition” because the most of the times, it’s just not true. But on the other hand, what’s the point of starting a new business when there are lots of competitors, trying to get a small place in a crowded space? Entrepreneurs often get lost somewhere between “no competition” and “too much competition”. This leads to unconvincing business plans or, worse, a strategy that’s blind to real competitive threats. Include the things that your competitors have to their advantage in your Startup Pitch, and state how you are different or how you have an edge over these already-established businesses.

Value Proposition

A value proposition consists of the sum total of benefits which a vendor promises a customer will receive in return for the customer’s associated payment. A strong value proposition speaks directly to your target audience and tells them exactly why they should purchase your products and services. It is a clear statement of the results a customer will receive from purchasing your services and products.

Way to market

The marketing strategy you planned to reach your target market. The significant stages, actions or events in the development of your Startup.

Investment Needed

How much do you need, and how will you spend it? That’s a very interesting point to the investor’s ears.
